Our Impact

Our Impact

At VISET Namibia, we measure our success by the positive change we create in the lives of informal economy workers and the broader communities they serve.
Through advocacy, research, training, and partnerships, we have strengthened inclusion, dignity, and opportunity for thousands of informal traders across Namibia.

Empowering Informal Economy Workers

We have provided training, mentorship, and advocacy support to informal traders in various towns and municipalities, helping them gain the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to grow their businesses sustainably. Our programmes have enabled traders to transition from survival-based enterprises to structured, growth-oriented ventures with improved access to opportunities and visibility.

Policy Influence and Representation

VISET Namibia has been instrumental in bringing the voices of informal traders into policy discussions at both national and local levels. Through continuous engagement with government institutions, municipalities, and development partners, we’ve influenced inclusive policies, by-laws, and planning frameworks that recognize informal traders as key contributors to Namibia’s economy.

Strengthening Livelihoods and Inclusion

By advocating for better working environments and fair treatment, we have helped improve the social and economic well-being of informal workers. Our work promotes gender inclusion, ensuring that women and youth — who make up the majority of informal traders — are represented, supported, and empowered.

Advancing Research and Data-Driven Action

We’ve conducted research and data collection initiatives that highlight the realities, challenges, and contributions of Namibia’s informal economy. This information has shaped our advocacy strategies and provided valuable insights to policymakers and development partners.
