Operational Stuff

Our Operations

VISET Namibia operates as a non-partisan, membership-based organization dedicated to advancing the interests of informal economy workers across the country. Our operations are driven by collaboration, research, and advocacy — ensuring that the voices of informal traders are included in policy and development processes that shape Namibia’s economy.

Core Areas of Operation

Research and Policy Engagement

We conduct evidence-based research to identify the challenges and opportunities faced by informal traders. Our findings inform advocacy campaigns and influence national and local policy reforms aimed at creating inclusive economic systems.

Advocacy and Support Services

We promote the rights, dignity, and recognition of informal workers through targeted training, awareness programs, and engagement with policymakers, municipalities, and development partners.

Infrastructure and Urban Integration

We work with government and local authorities to advocate for improved trading environments, including access to water, sanitation, secure storage, and designated vending spaces that promote safety and productivity.

Data Collection and Knowledge Management

Our data-driven approach helps shape effective interventions by gathering and analyzing key information about the informal economy, guiding evidence-based decision-making and sustainable project design.

Partnerships and Collaboration

VISET Namibia collaborates with:

  • Government ministries and local authorities to improve urban inclusion and spatial planning.

  • Development partners and civil society organizations to support advocacy and capacity-building programs.

  • Informal trader associations and community networks to ensure grassroots participation and ownership.

These partnerships help us drive systemic change and create lasting impact in Namibia’s informal economy.

Geographical Reach
